MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS | TEAM SCORES
Emmitsburg, Md.-- Miles Smith (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and Morgan Casey (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery-Blair) led the Retrievers at the Mount 5k Duals on Friday afternoon to kick off the 2019 season. The Retriever men finished the race with a 3-3 record defeating George Washington, Mount St. Mary's and Stevenson. The women went 3-4 beating American, Mount St. Mary's and Stevenson.
Miles Smith led the men's side with a 16:01.11 time in 16th place. Taylor Baranoski (Parkville, Md./Eastern Tech) was just behind him in 18th place with a time of 16:02.86. Freshman Michael Belmaggio (Frederick, Md./Linganore), Chris Thoms (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and Trent Rose (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) were the other three Retrievers to score on Friday. Belmaggio finished in 24th place (16:06.88) with Thoms (16:28.86) and Rose (16:35.49) finishing in 39th and 41st respectively.
The women were led by Morgan Casey who finished 18th with a time of 18:52.84. Margo Henley (Akron, N.Y.) was the next fastest Retriever with a time of 19:21.22 in 30th place. Madison Armonda (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood), Briana Roberts (Pennsauken, N.J.) and Anna Staats (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) also scored with times of 19:28.14, 19:56.30, and 20:05.49 respectively.
UMBC will return to action on Saturday, September 14 at the Navy/Salty Dog Invite, hosted by Navy.
