UMBC Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation is committed to providing a safe, supportive, respectful, and student-athlete-centered environment. Your voice matters, and you should feel empowered to share concerns, ask questions, and report issues that may impact your experience, well-being, team culture, or the broader athletics community.
Student-athletes are encouraged to use RealResponse as the first step (TEXT 66595) for sharing issues, concerns, or feedback. RealResponse provides a safe and secure way to communicate directly with UMBC Athletics leadership, including the option to report concerns anonymously.
Concerns may include, but are not limited to:
- Team culture or conduct concerns
- Coach or staff behavior
- Mental health or well-being concerns
- Hazing, bullying, harassment, or discrimination
- Academic, athletic, or team environment concerns
- Safety, sports medicine, or facility-related concerns
- Retaliation or fear of speaking up
- Any issue that impacts your ability to thrive as a UMBC student-athlete
If you have a concern, please submit it through RealResponse by texting 66595 so the appropriate athletics staff can review and respond promptly. RealResponse allows UMBC Athletics to receive information quickly, ask follow-up questions when appropriate, and support student-athletes with care and accountability.
Student-athletes may also review the Student-Athlete Concerns Procedures and Student-Athlete Concerns Policy linked below for additional information about formal reporting options and university processes.
If there is an immediate threat to your safety or the safety of others, contact emergency services or UMBC Police immediately at 410-455-5555.
UMBC Athletics does not tolerate retaliation against any student-athlete who raises a concern, participates in a review process, or seeks support. We are committed to listening, responding, and continuously improving the student-athlete experience.
Your voice helps us protect the culture, care, and integrity of Retriever Athletics.
