The Varsity Strength & Conditioning Center opened at "The Peake" in the spring of 2018 and nearly doubles the previous space in the Retriever Activities Center.

The state-of-the-art performance center, outfitted by Samson, features 10 half-racks with connecting chin-up/TRX stations.  Each rack is outfitted with a set of PowerBlock adjustable dumbbells (5-90 pounds), various resistance bands, 20-pound weighted vests, and landmine and single leg squat attachments.  Other equipment includes fixed dumbbells from 80 pounds to 130 pounds, kettlebells ranging from 26 pounds to 106 pounds, 2 Unilateral Leg Press Machines, 5 Combo Pull Down/ Seated Row Machines, a Keiser Six-Pack System, and various specialty bars.

A main feature of the space is a 35-yard multi-purpose area in the center of the room that allows student athletes to perform a variety of strength & conditioning activities.  Another new feature of the space is the Retriever Re-Fueling Station that offers pre- and post-workout nutrition to our student-athletes.  This all-encompassing space allows the UMBC strength staff to offer the highest quality of coaching to all student-athletes.
