Bronx, N.Y. – The UMBC men's cross country team secured a trophy by finishing third at the 2025 IC4A Championships held at the historic Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning.
Sophomore standout
Daniel Danilovitz achieved a personal-best time of 24:35.2 in the 8K race, marking the second-fastest time in program history (the record is 23:57.1 set by Hassan Omar in 2015). Danilovitz placed 7th overall out of 225 competitors and earned All-East Team honors. He was particularly strong over the final half of the race as he moved up eight spots to finish in the top-10.
Redshirt freshman
Joey Ensor also gained All-East recognition by finishing 23rd with a time of 25:00.9.
Sophomore
Justin Banks (33rd, 25:14.8), junior
Sofiane Compaorg (34th, 25:15.8), and sophomore
Kieran Mischke (39th, 25:19.0) rounded out the scoring for the Retrievers.
Senior
Thomas Foulkes finished 46th with a time of 25:24.6, while sophomore
Weston Carr came in 95th with a time of 26:05.0, both placing just outside of the scoring range.
The Retrievers finished behind Northeastern (58 points) and Saint Joseph's (PA) (83 points), ending with a total of 136 points. There were 22 teams competing in the event.
UMBC will next compete at the America East Championships on October 31st in New Hampshire.
