University of Maryland, Baltimore County

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is made up of representatives from each of UMBC's 19 sports and serves as the representative voice of student-athletes here at UMBC.  SAAC is led by a president and three vice presidents.  Each of the vice presidents oversee a subcommittee.  The subcommittees include:  Community Service & Events; Communications; and Governance & Student-Athlete Services.

SAAC is part of including student-athletes in the governance process of athletics and extends to both the conference (America East) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).  Other functions of SAAC inlcude:  Promote communication between athletic administration and student-athletes; Disseminate information; Provide feedback into athletic department issues; Build a sense of community within the athletics department involving all athletic teams; Organize community service efforts; Coordinate with the Student Government Association; and Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus.
