Women's Basketball Hosts Manhattan on Sunday

The UMBC Women's Basketball team looks to continue its winning streak when it hosts Manhattan on Sunday at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Retrievers (3-2) are coming off two-straight home wins over Morgan State (81-72) and American (50-45).

Last time out, nine different players made a basket as UMBC held off a furious late American University rally to defeat the visiting Eagles, 50-45, on Wednesday night at The Peake.

The Retrievers held a 47-29 lead with 6:30 left before the guests cut it to four, 49-45, with just over a minute left. The Retrievers would get multiple defensive stops to hold on for the victory.

Tiara Bellamy and Talia Davis each had ten points to lead the Dawgs, while Jaden Walker had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Manhattan is coming off a win in the Battle of the Bronx, as the Jaspers beat rival Fordham, 65-58, to extend the team's win streak to four games overall.

Tegan Young poured in a career-high 20 points to ensure a Manhattan win over Fordham for the second year in a row.

UMBC and Manhattan met last December in New York City, as three Retrievers reach double-figures, but a fourth quartter rally came up short as the Retrievers dropped a 68-52 decision.

The Jaspers built a game-high 19 point lead at 45-26 midway through the third, but UMBC chipped away and cut the deficit to 52-43 less than three minutes into the final frame. The hosts would score 13 of the next 19 points to secure the victory.
