Women's Basketball Concludes Regular Season on Wednesday at UMass Lowell

The UMBC Women's Basketball team will look to improve its postseason seeding as it concludes the regular season at UMass Lowell on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and fans can watch on ESPN+.

UMBC (13-13, 10-5 AE) has clinched hosting an America East Quarterfinal for the first time ever, and is guaranteed to be either the No.3 or No.4 seed. 

The Retrievers also reached double-digit America East wins for the first time since 2016-17, and only the third time in 20 seasons as a member of the conference.  

Last Time Out:
  • The UMBC women's basketball team clinched their first-ever America East Conference Quarterfinal home game after defeating the New Hampshire Wildcats on Saturday, 90-43, at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena on Senior Day.
  • UMBC hit a program record 15 three pointers in the contest, going 15-of-27 (55.6%) from distance.
  • The Retrievers jumped out to a 29-6 lead at the end of the opening quarter and were never challenged for the remainder of the contest.
  • UMBC connected on 33-of-66 overall field goals for an even 50 percent clip.Senior forward Kiara
  • Graduate student guard KK White (7 rebounds) led four Retrievers in double-figures with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting while graduate student guard Keelah Dixon (4-of-7 treys) contributed 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
  • UMBC outrebounded the Wildcats by a 46-25 margin and forced 19 turnovers.
  • The Retrievers also distributed a season-high 19 assists and added nine steals.
Scouting UMass Lowell:
  • Four players scored double figures as the UMass Lowell women's basketball team defeated host Binghamton, 62-55, on Saturday afternoon.
  • The River Hawks (3-21, 2-12 AE) snapped a six-game losing skid.
  • Junior Jaini Edmonds (Worcester, Mass.) scored a game-high 17 points and sophomore Ivory Finley (Minneapolis, Minn.) added 14 points, five rebounds and four steals.
  • Sophomore Amaya Dowdy (Woonsocket, R.I.) and senior Jaliena Sanchez (Springfield, Mass.) each hit double figures, with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
All-Time Series:
  • UMass Lowell leads the all-time series, 10-9, and had won three-straight until UMBC won 76-59 last month at The Peake.
  • On 1/18/23, UMBC graduate student forward Kiara Bell scored a career-best 24 points, leading five Retrievers in double figures, as a program record Midday Madness crowd of 3,027 saw the win.
  • Sophomore guard Laycee Drake amassed 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and a pair of assists through the first 20 minutes.
