Box Score BALTIMORE - The UMBC baseball team lost the regular season finale, 12-3, to Binghamton in sweltering conditions at Alumni Field.
The Retriever program honored 13 seniors before the game and nine saw action in the contest.
Despite the setback, UMBC will be the No. 5 seed in the America East Tournament. They will take on No. 4 UMass Lowell on Wednesday, May 25 at the University of Maine's Mahaney Diamond. The first pitch is slated for 11:00 a.m.
Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the third, three seniors produced a pair of UMBC runs. Catcher
Joe Novenche led off the frame with a single, Â advanced to second as
Drew Roberts was hit by a pitch and scored on
Ian Diaz' double to the left field corner.
Logan Doran's fielder's choice plated Roberts to cut the Bearcat lead to 5-2.
The Bearcats got a run back in the fourth, but UMBC equalized as freshman
Jayden Shertel stole home with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
