The Retrievers had a chance in the seventh, with Colin Casey (Ipswich, Mass.) leading off with a double, and advancing on a groundout. However, the inning would end with Casey stranded 90 feet away. UMBC found their footing in the ninth. Torres led off reaching on catcher's interference and advanced on a passed ball. After Casey moved him to third on a flyout, Brown stepped in and drove him in on a sac fly to make it 3-1.
