Baseball Falls to Maryland

BALTIMORE -- Jesiah Carpenter had a pair of hits, but the UMBC Baseball team dropped an 11-0 (7) decision to visiting Maryland on Tuesday.

Carpenter had the lone extra base hit for the Retrievers, via a fifth inning double. Danny Orr, Derek Paris and Nolan Kutney all singled, while Ehi Okojie and Zach Hampton both drew walks for UMBC in the contest.

Bennett Speicher pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief for the Dawgs, striking out one batter and not allowing a hit.

The Retrievers (16-11, 5-1 AE) head to Binghamton for a three-game America East series this weekend.
