Vestal, N.Y. --
Danny Wyatt homered for the second straight game, but host Binghamton broke-open a 5-5 game in the seventh with 11 straight runs to win 16-5, and complete the series sweep on Sunday. The loss was UMBC's first America East defeat by more than one run.
UMBC (16-14, 5-4 AE) found itself down 4-0 after five, but rallied to tie it in the top of the sixth.
Ehi Okojie hit a two-out RBI single, followed by back-to-back RBI doubles from
Anthony Mascuilli and
Zach Hampton to tie it up. Binghamton (17-13, 9-3 AE) got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, but Wyatt's fourth homer of the year tied the game at five heading into the stretch. The Bearcats, however, plated four in the bottom of the seventh and seven in the bottom of the eighth to win the game via run-rule.
Dylan Melton was the only Retriever with a two-hit game, as he went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double.
Jesiah Carpenter,
Kyle Eddington and
Danny Orr also had hits for the Dawgs.
UMBC hosts Georgetown on Tuesday night at 6 p.m., before welcoming UMass Lowell to Alumni Field for a three-game weekend series.
