Vestal, NY – The UMBC Baseball team couldn't complete the comeback in the ninth inning, falling 3-4 to Binghamton on Saturday afternoon.
Danny Wyatt led the offense for the Retrievers as he had two hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh to bring the Retrievers within one.
UMBC had bases loaded in the ninth inning after Binghamton gave up a couple of walks. The Bearcats would be able to hold onto the win to take game two of the series.
Jesiah Carpenter, Anthony Mascuilli, Ehi Okojie, and Kyle Eddington each had a hit for the Retrievers.
Chris Harbert and Bennett Speicher both came in relief and didn't allow a run to score. Speicher had three strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched.
UMBC will wrap up the series tomorrow against Binghamton. First pitch is set for 1 pm on ESPN+.
