Game One:
The Retrievers jumped out in front of the Hornets, putting up three runs in the first inning. After AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) reached on a throwing error, and got to third after a wild pitch, Torres smacked a triple to score him and Goodwin to make it 2-0 early. Blaze O'Saben (Warrenton, Va.) would bring in Torres just two batters later on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
Torres struck again in the third, tripling home Goodwin to make it 4-0 while Colin Casey (Ipswich, Mass.) had a sac fly of his own in the fourth, scoring Ethan Wentzlaff (Damascus, Md./Damascus) to give UMBC a 5-0 lead.
Delaware State would get a run in the fifth on a solo home run. UMBC would have the answer in the form of a five run seventh inning. Wright singled in Casey, followed by a Goodwin RBI groundout scoring Terrence Pinkston (La Plata, Md./McDonough/Norfolk State). Torres would bring home Wright on a single, with Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) capping the inning with a two-run home run to make it 10-1.
The Hornets would cut into the lead, putting up four runs in the eighth, but UMBC shut the door in the ninth to seal a 10-5 victory in game one.
UMBC starter Max Goron (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) had a masterful day, going 7.1 innings getting his first win of the year. Reid Celata (Virginia Beach, Va.) came in the final 1.2 innings and held the Hornets without a hit in the win.

Game Two:
UMBC starter Nick Trabacchi (Smithtown, N.Y.) had a great start for the Retrievers, going 3.1 innings, not giving up a hit with two strikeouts on the mound.
The Retrievers would finally crack through in the fourth. Wright led off the inning with a double and would advance on a Torres sacrifice bunt. He would later score on a suicide squeeze by Goodwin to make it 1-0 UMBC. O'Saben would bring in Goodwin with an RBI triple down the right field line, giving UMBC a 2-0 lead.
However, the Hornets would respond, getting a pair of runs to tie it in the fifth.
