Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball was down 6-2 before a big fourth inning tied it. Junior AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth as UMBC completed the comeback in an 8-6 win.

The Retrievers snap a four-game losing skid to improve to 6-14, 3-1 AE on the year while the Bearcats fall to 4-14, 1-3 AE.

Aaron Husson (Hawley, Pa.) picked up his first collegiate victory, going three innings of relief, not giving up a hit with four strikeouts. Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) earned his fifth save of the year, going 2.2 innigs with two strikeouts. He is just one save away from tying the single season saves record.

The Bearcats struck first, getting a pair of runs on a Paul Rufo two-run home run in the first. The Retrievers responded in the bottom of the inning with a pair of their own. Wright led off with a double, moving to third on a Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va.) single. He would score on the very next at bat after Matt Campbell (Chesapeake, Va.) grounded out. Freshman Dmitri Floyd (Dover, Del.) followed up with his second home run of the season taking the pitch over the left center field wall to tie it.

Binghamton would score the next four runs to take a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth. Floyd led off the inning with a triple, scoring on a Collin Stack (Jamestown, N.Y.) double. Stack would score after freshman Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) singled to right. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) singled home Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) the next at bat. Goodwin crossed home after a throwing error extended the inning to tie it at 6-6.

UMBC would take the lead in the sixth, as Wright doubled home Beeman who singled early in the inning. Wright scored the very next at bat on a Bright single to make it 8-6. The Retriever pitching staff would hold the Bearcats without a hit over the five innings in an 8-6 victory.

Bright led the Retrievers going 3-4 from the dish with an RBI. Wright, Floyd, Goodwin and Beeman each added two hits with both hits by Floyd going for extra bases.

UMBC and Binghamton close out the series with a double header starting at noon at Alumni Field.
