UMBC Places Program-Best Second In 2025-26 Stuart P. Haskell Jr., Commissioner’s Cup

Boston, Mass. – UMBC Athletics soared to a historic second-place finish in the Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner's Cup standings, their best result since joining the America East Conference in 2003-2004.

UMBC recorded a school-best 318 points, outpacing its previous high of 314 from the 2007-08 season. For the first time ever, the Retrievers broke into the top two after eight impressive third-place finishes, raising the bar for the program.

Championship glory fueled the Retrievers' run, as they claimed America East titles in volleyball, women's indoor track & field, men's swimming & diving, and men's basketball. Seven more squads joined the celebration with top-three finishes, including men's cross country, women's basketball, men's indoor track & field, baseball, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, and men's lacrosse, showcasing the depth of the program.

Vermont won its first Commissioner's Cup with 320 points. The Catamounts led the league with four regular-season titles and had all seven of its team sports appear in a conference championship game.

Bryant took third with 308 points after winning with 352 points last year and taking third in 2023-24 with 313 points.

The race for the cup was tight, with just 12 points separating the top three schools, the narrowest margin in league history. By comparison, the previous closest finish was a 22-point spread in 2023-24 between Binghamton (335), UAlbany (325), and Bryant (313).

This marks the third straight year, but only the third time since 2016-17 that three schools have surpassed 300 points.
