The Retrievers would answer, cutting the deficit to just one with a pair of runs in their half of the first. Matt Campbell (Chesapeake, Va.) led off the inning with a walk, and would score on an AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) single. Wright scored two batters later a Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) ground out. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) tied it on a wild pitch in the second inning, bringing the sides back even.

However, The Hawks would score 11 unanswered runs with five in the fourth, one in the sixth and seventh and four in the ninth to take a 14-3 victory. Wright and Bright led the way with a pair of hits.

Game Two:

The nightcap saw both starting pitchers shine in the early stages, with the first base runner of the game coming in the fourth inning. UMBC starter Chase Bailey (Fairfax, Va.) had a no-hitter going through 3.1 innings, before a TJ Ward single broke it up. The Hawks would put up a pair of runs in the inning to take a 2-0 lead.

UMBC responded in the fifth, with Campbell drawing a one-out walk. He would steal second just pitches later, setting up Collin Stack. Stack took a pitch over the left field wall for his second home run of the season, tying the game. Wright walked the very next at bat and would get to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. Bright stepped up with a sacrifice fly to right to put UMBC in front.

Bailey would exit after 5.2 innings, handing the ball to Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) for the save. Schoch would end the sixth and handle the Hawks in the seventh for his third save in a 3-2 win.
