Albany, NY.--  Senior guard Taylor McCarley (Bowie, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) scored 12 of her team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter as the UMBC Women's Basketball team (7-11, 2-3) ended Albany's 24-game home winning streak -- the second-longest in the nation --  with a 64-56 victory on Monday night.

The Great Danes, the five-time defending America East champions, last lost at home on February 1, 2015 to Maine.

Pandora Wilson (Gaithersburg, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) came off the bench and scored 14 points, Laura Castaldo (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored 12 and freshman Te'yJah Oliver (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 10 points as four Retrievers finished in double-figures.

UMBC led Albany (8-9, 2-2) by the score of 44-42 entering the fourth quarter, but Albany scored the first four points to take a 46-44 lead with 9:04 left. The Retrievers then scored 10 straight over the next 2:48 to take command of the game. They ramped up the defensive pressure, holding Albany without a point for 5:25 during the run.

The Great Danes then closed to within 56-52, but McCarley hit a running floater with 2:16 left as UMBC pulled away.

Albany jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead to start the game, but UMBC responded and took an 18-14 lead after one, thanks to eight points, including two three-pointers, from Tyler Moore (Portsmouth, Va./Norfolk Academy) plus six from Wilson and McCarley's four.

UMBC struggled shooting the ball in the second quarter, going only 2-for-11 from the field, and both were Castaldo three-pointers. Castaldo hit a three 1:46 into quarter to give the Retrievers a seven-point advantage (21-14), but UMBC would not score again until two Brittani Burgess (White Plains, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) free throws with 2:10 to go gave the Retrievers a 23-22 lead.

Later, Castaldo would sink her second three of the quarter, with 44 seconds left, which gave the Retrievers a 26-25 lead heading into the half.

Oliver had a huge third quarter, scoring 10 points while Wilson had six of her own to give UMBC the 44-42 edge heading into the fourth period.

The Retrievers will now begin their bye week and take a break until next Sunday, January 22, when they host UMass Lowell at 1 p.m.on ESPN3.
