Box Score

Video Highlights

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball won their seventh straight, pounding out 18 hits in a 14-0 win on Tuesday. The Retrievers held James Madison to just one hit as UMBC moves to 26-20 on the year.

Mitchell Carroll (Oakton, Va./Oakton) continued his strong stretch of games, lacing a single into right to lead off the third for the Retrievers. He would advance to second on an error by Daniel Pinson on a pick-off attempt to set up Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville). Lachance ripped a single up the middle to score Carroll to make it 1-0 early. The Retrievers would not be done as Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) stepped up with two on and hit a shot to left field for his ninth home run of the year to make it 4-0 after three.

James Madison threatened in the fifth, loading the bases, but starter Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) got a strikeout and fly out to end the threat.

UMBC jumped on the Dukes bullpen in their half of the fifth, as Dolshun blasted his second home run of the day, this time a two run shot as the Retrievers put up four in the inning. UMBC put the game out of reach for good in the sixth. Nick Naumann (Essex, Md./John Carroll/Chestnut Hill) scored Carroll on an RBI ground out, followed by a Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) single to plate Lachance to make it 10-0. Tim Kelly (Hampton, Va./York/Virginia Tech) added runs 11 and 12 with a two run home run to left center.

The Retrievers added a pair of runs in the eight to seal the 14-0 win, as UMBC held the Dukes to just one hit all day. Chanin earned his first win of the year.

UMBC hit three home runs, as Dolshun went 2-2 with a walk and five RBIs. Carroll went 4-4 with three runs scored in the win.

The Dawgs will close out the regular season with a three game America East series on Friday and Saturday against Hartford. The teams will play two on Friday and a single on Saturday, both days starting at noon.
