A shot from beyond the arc from Eastern's sophomore guard Gina DiDomenico – the Eagles sixth trey of the half – gave the Retrievers a 40-23 advantage at the break.

Eastern looked to make a run at the start of the second, as the Eagles sunk back-to-back threes from DiDomenico and sophomore guard Kaleigh Boreman, however a steal and layup from senior guard Raven Harris (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne/American) ignited a 19-0 run from UMBC, giving the Retrievers a 61-29 cushion with 10:21 remaining.
