Baseball Hosts Towson on Tuesday Night

Fresh off taking two of three at UMass Lowell, the UMBC Baseball team returns home to face local rival Towson on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Retrievers held on for a 5-4 victory at Towson on February 26 for their first win of the season.

In that contest, Freshman Danny Orr went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Leewood Molessa doubled in his first at-bat in nearly a year and Emmett Tolis struck out five in 2.2 perfect innings of work.

Last time out, UMBC nearly rallied from a late five-run deficit, before dropping a 7-6 decision in the series finale at UMass Lowell on Sunday.

The Retrievers had the bases loaded and one out in the top of the ninth, but a liner was snagged and the runner at second was doubled off to end it.

UMBC took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a Kyle Eddington RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly from Jesiah Carpenter. The River Hawks scored the next six runs, but UMBC cut it to 7-5 on a Molessa three-run double with two outs in the seventh. Anthony Mascuilli had an RBI double in the top of the ninth to cut it to 7-6.
