Lexington, Va. -- The UMBC Swimming & Diving Team finished the America East Championships in style as
Oliver Gassmann was named the Men's Most Outstanding Swimmer and the Dave Alexander Coaches Award winner (most points accumulated at America East Championships over a career),
Isaac Poole was named the Men's Most Outstanding Diver and
Ashley Gutshall broke the school 100 free record which had stood since 2011.
The Men's team finished in second while the Women took fourth.
Gassman won the 200 fly in a pool record time of 1:47.37, while Gutshall took silver in the 100 free in a time of 49.38 to break
Abbey McKenny's record of 49.66 set in 2011.
Both Gassmann and Gutshall were on silver medal winning 400 teams as well as the Men (
Sean Neils,
Christian Coleman, Gassmann,
Boris Milev) finished in 2:57.56, while the Women's team of Gutshall,
Makaela Hill,
Claire Oettinger and
Bruna de Padua touched the wall at 3:23.32.
Boris Milev earned a silver in the 100 free in a time of 44.45.
Poole swept both Men's diving events and will continue the season at NCAA Zones at Rutgers next month.
