- Earned six golds at the championships
- Named the Most Outstanding Swimmer at the 2022 ECAC Winter Championships, winning three events (100 fly, 200 fly, 100 free)
- Doubled in the butterfly in dual meets vs. Towson and George Mason
2021-22
- Won the 100 and 200 butterfly events at the America East Championships; posted personal best times in each final as he qualified second in both preliminaries
- Also earned golds as part of the 200 and 400 medley relay squads in Worcester
- Captured the 100 fly at the ECAC Winter Championships and placed second in the 50 freestyle
BACKGROUND
- Earned 2020 High School All-American status in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay events
- Despite limited training, set personal best times in 100/200 butterfly and 50/100 freestyle at the Gator Classic (March 2021)
- Part of three New Jersey state championship teams and a sixth-place squad at the 2020 Eastern Championships
- Also considered Georgetown and GW, but selected UMBC “because I knew what kind of relationship everyone on the team had and I wanted to be a part of that”
- A member of the German Honor Society
- A fan of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and the How to Train Your Dragon movies
- Son of Cristiana Mayer and Urs Gassmann
