Men's Track and Field

Indoor Track & Field Teams Tabbed Third and Fourth in Preseason Poll; Season Begins on Saturday in New York

The UMBC Indoor Track & Field programs earned high marks in the America East preseason poll, the Conference announced on Thursday afternoon. The Women were tabbed to finish fourth, while the Men were voted to finish third. 

The Men's team is coming off a sensational 2024-25 season where they finished third in indoor and second in outdoor, while the Women had their best indoor finish in nine years (fourth), and had a solid fifth place finish at the outdoor championships.

The 2025-26 indoor season will begin on Saturday afternoon at the St. John's University Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. The Retrievers had a solid showing in the event last year as the Men won three individual events on the day.
 
Senior Zachary Taylor won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8.42.61,Donovan Young won the triple jump with an effort of 14.20 meters, and senior Ethan Hart took first in the shot put with a throw of 16.22 meters and freshman Xavier Gooden placed third (12.09 meters).

The Women's 4x400 relay took second place in 3:52.01 to highlight the day. Thrower Marie Abongwa was the runner-up in the shot put (12.90 meters) and finished fourth in the weight throw (16.14 meters)
