Baseball Drops 12-Inning Marathon at George Washington

Arlington, Va. – The UMBC Baseball team dropped a 12 inning marathon on Tuesday evening to host George Washington, 6-5.

How it Happened: 
  • The Retrievers took a 1-0 lead in the first when Anthony Swenda and Leewood Molessa both walked with one out and Luke Trythall followed with an RBI double
  • It would remain 1-0 until the 4th, when GW tied it up
  • The Revolutionaries took a 2-1 lead in the 6th, but UMBC was able to limit the damage
  • The Retrievers put up a four spot in the top of the th thanks to a two-run double from Nick Pratt, an RBI double from Dawson Baracani and a bases loaded walk by Swenda.
  • UMBC led 5-2 into the 9th, but the hosts tied it up before walking off in the 12th
  • Logan Wiley made his first career start and struck out three while allowing just three hits and one in 4.2 innings
  • Freshman Jesiah Carpenter, Trythall and Baracani all had two-hit games
UMBC opens the home portion of the schedule on Friday at 3 p.m. when it hosts Rider.
