BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's and men's swimming and diving teams make the short trip around I-695 to take on the Towson Tigers on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 17 and 18. The diving competition takes place at noon on the 17th, while the swimming portion gets underway at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Burdick Pool.
The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5, but postponed and rescheduled.

On Saturday, the Retrievers competed at Howard, six days after returning from their Florida training trip. UMBC captured six swimming events as junior
Makaela Hill led the way with a pair of victories for the visitors. The Catonsville native captured the 50 freestyle (24.32) and came back to win the 100 freestyle (53.88).

Alexis Bruington (1-meter diving) and graduate student
Caroline Sargent (100 backstroke) also posted victories for the visitors.
Last season, in a thrilling meet between local rivals, UMBC edged Towson, 151-148 at the UMBC Aquatic Complex. Graduate student
Caroline Sargent led the way with three victories, including a razor close triumph in the penultimate event, the 200 yard individual medley.
Hill also excelled for the Retrievers, winning both the 50 and 100 freestyle events and rallying to earn the 400 freestyle relay team four crucial points and a second place finish in the meet-ending 400 freestyle relay.
The Tigers had won seven consecutive meets versus the Retrievers since a UMBC win in 2006.
\UMBC will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they host George Mason. The meet gets underway at 1 p.m., but the ceremony will start at 12:40 p.m.
