Marini Strikes Gold on Day 3 at America East Championships

Lexington, Va. -- Alice Marini won the gold in the 400 individual medley to lead the UMBC Women's Swimming & Diving program on day three of the America East Championships at VMI.

Marini touched the wall in 4:20.99 to beat the competition by nearly three seconds. 

Elsewhere, Erma Duratovic placed fifth in the 100 fly (55.92), and the 400 medley relay team of Marini, Duratovic, Ula Parrill and Ashley Gutshall placed fourth in a time of 3:45.40.

The Retrievers are currently in fourth place with 338 points with the final day of the competition beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
