Defending Ivy League champion Princeton used a massive 29-5 run in the first half to take command and went on to defeat the Retrievers, 94-64, before an exuberant crowd of 2,097 at "The Peake."
Graduate student guard
Colton Lawrence scored an early season high of 17 points to lead the Retrievers. The Tigers hit 12-of-19 shots (63.2 percent) from behind the arc and 37-of-64 (57.8%) for the contest.
UMBC' graduate student
Tra'Von Fagan led all rebounders with 9 and added 8 points.Â

UMBC handled Penn State York, 92-65, on Nov. 10 and picked up their seventh straight season-opening home victory. Senior forward
Yaw Obeng-Mensah scored a career high 19 points, leading four Retrievers (1-1) in double figures. Mensah also posted a game-high 10 rebounds to collect his first double-double as a Retriever. The Retrievers scored 52 second half points, hitting 22 of their first 33 shots from the floor in the period.Â
Senior guard
Jacob Boonyasith scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while graduate students
Jarvis Doles and
Colton Lawrence added 13 apiece.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Lafayette has dropped their first three contests, all of which have come on the road. The Leopards lost a 63-59 decision at St. Joseph's in their most recent outing on Monday night. Kyle Jenkins scored 18 points and added five rebounds while CJ Fulton contributed 15 points. Lafayette trimmed the deficit to 61-59 after a trey by Devin Hines, however, the hosts hit a pair of free throws to ice the game.
Fulton leads the team in scoring (13.3 ppg.) and is shooting 63 percent from the floor (15-of-24), including 10-of-16 (.625) from three. Jenkins is adding 12.3 ppg. and 5.0

INSIDE THE SERIES
UMBC and Lafayette have not played since the 2007-08 season when the host Leopards came up with an 87-84 triumph in overtime. UMBC's Ray Barbosa led all scorers with 26 points. The Retrievers won the prior season in Baltimore, 86-51.
