Biography

BACKGROUND: Comes to UMBC after spending five seasons at Division II power Bentley… owns career totals of 856 points and 339 rebounds in 73 games (52 starts)… Earned his Bachelor’s degree in finance with a computer information systems minor.

2022-23 (UMBC): A Third Team All-America East selection...Led UMBC in scoring at 12.2 ppg...Started 29 of the 30 games he played in...Reached double-figures in scoring 22 different times...Finished third on the squad with 45 three-point field goals...Distributed a career-high 49 assists on the season...Poured in a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting versus Coppin State...Swished a season-best five treys at UNC Greensboro and finished with 21 points...Handed out a career-high 5 assists against Morgan State...Recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds at Columbia.

2021-22 (BENTLEY): Averaged team-high 15.7 ppg and shot 44 percent from three last season, helping lead the Falcons to the NE10 Northeast Division title, the NE10 championship, the NCAA Division II East Region championship, and the NCAA Elite Eight…earned Second Team All-Conference honors despite missing nine games due to injury…Shot 48.5 percent overall and hit 43.6 percent from downtown…averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament…was recognized as the NE-10 Player of the Week three times…scored a career-high 34 points in a victory at Saint Anselm (11/17) as he connected on 13-of-19 field goals, including 5-of-6 from behind the arc…also poured in 32 points in a triumph versus New Haven (2/12), in a game where he splashed 7-of-14 treys…had a 25-point outing versus American International (1/22) after burying 9-of-16 shots, including 5-of-9 from distance.

2020-21 (BENTLEY): Bentley did not compete due to the Covid-19 pandemic…named to NABC Honors Court.

2019-20 (BENTLEY): Missed the entire season due to an injury.

2018-19 (BENTLEY): Was the recipient of the team’s Francis A. Bennett Most Improved Player Award after boosting his scoring average 11 points per game and his field goal accuracy from 34 to 48 percent ...started all 29 games and averaged 15.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 rebounds and 31.1 minutes ...shot .482 overall, .408 from three and .680 at the free throw stripe ...was one of only three NE10 players with at least 65 three-pointers and 190 rebounds…led Falcons in three-pointers and three-point percentage, and was second in scoring and rebounding ...scored at least 20 five times, with a high of 26 Feb. 2 vs. Pace ...also had 24 against both Goldey-Beacom (Nov. 10) and Southern New Hampshire (Dec. 5) ...three double-doubles including 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Nov. 10 season-opener against Goldey-Beacom ...Bentley was 8-5 during the 13 games that he made at least three three-pointers ...named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll three times… grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in a victory versus Bridgeport during the 2018-19 season.

2017-18 (BENTLEY): In 23 games, averaged 11.3 minutes, 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds … started six straight games from Nov. 29-Dec. 29 and averaged 6.0 points during that stretch … began his collegiate career with 15 points, on 5-of-7 shooting and 3-of-5 threes, and seven rebounds against Georgian Court on Nov. 11 ... both were season-bests … followed that effort by scoring 13 points the next night against Concordia (N.Y.).
 
HIGH SCHOOL: 2016 graduate of the ELCO High School (Eastern Lebanon County) who prepped at The Hill School …finished career as ELCO’s all-time leading scorer with 1,558 points … two-time PIAA All-State …earned All-Mid-Atlantic Prep League honors while at Hill … lettered in baseball and track and field, in addition to basketball …also played for Team Supernatural.

PERSONAL: Son of Todd and Dawn Lawrence … has two brothers, Brandon (31) and Austin (28)… his favorite pro teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia 76ers…likes to golf and draws when not playing basketball.
