Khairat Leads UMBC Men’s Track and Field at Penn State National Open

UMBC men’s track and field had a strong first day of the Penn State National Open on Friday. Ibrahim Khairat led the Retrievers in the triple jump as the top Retriever finisher on the day.

State College, Pa.-- UMBC men's track and field had a strong first day of the Penn State National Open on Friday. Ibrahim Khairat led the Retrievers in the triple jump as the top Retriever finisher on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Ibrahim Khairat led the Retriever field athletes, taking third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.40m.
  • Toren Burr and Thomas Hamby finished ninth and tenth in the weight throw with marks of 15.47m and 12.86m respectively.
  • Ian Hoffman rounded out the field athletes taking eighth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.40m.
  • Jaeden Burke and Shavar Staats finished back-to-back in the 60m finals, placing sixth and seventh with times of 6.87 and 6.88. 
UMBC will continue to compete at State College for day two of the Penn State National Open on Saturday.
