UMBC Off and Running on Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - UMBC outdoor track & field opened the three-day competition at the prestigious Penn Relays with a quartet of athletes competing. 

On the men's side, Justin Febles opened up the evening, placing 26th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.24. Febles placed fifth in heat four. 

Next up was Justin Banks, the school's program record holder in the 1,500. Banks finished just under two seconds off his record time, finishing 18th in the event with a time of 3:46.08. 

Running in the men's 5,000 championship, Daniel Danilovitz placed 48th with a time of 14:32.32.

On the women's side, Marie Abongwa competed in the women's hammer throw, taking 11th place in the college division with a 52.79-meter throw.
