Papa Grabs Bronze Medal in the Discus on Second Day of Virginia Challenge

Charlotteville, Va. – Graduate student thrower Iosif Papa highlighted UMBC's efforts at the University of Virginia Challenge on Saturday by capturing third in the discus.
 
Building on his standout career, as UMBC's all-time record holder in the discus, Papa delivered one of his best throws ever with an effort of 58.98 meters (193'6"). His own record stands at 59.86 (196'5").
 
Karell Clement moved into ninth on UMBC's all-time list in the 200 invite with a 14th-place result of 21.36. Alim Raji also performed well in the event, crossing the line in 21.70.
 
Meanwhile, despite just missing a top-10 performance in the 400 meters, Kemarley Hibbert achieved a personal best with his 48.54 finish, placing 17th.
 
Turning to the 800 meters, Weston Carr turned in a personal-best time of 1:52.20 and placed 18th overall, while Jacob Martin took 32nd in 1:53.06.
 
Rounding out UMBC's efforts, Camn Hayes finished 31st in the 110 hurdles, posting a time of 15.26.
