In their final regular season home appearance of the season, the UMBC Retriever men's lacrosse team (5-2, 4-2 America East) welcomes the UMass Lowell River Hawks (1-6, 1-5 AE) to UMBC Stadium on Saturday, April 17. The noon face-off will be broadcast on the America East digital network.
UMBC will honor departing seniors Justin Barragan, Nick Doyle, Ryan Frawley, Nick Griffin, Marshall Johnson, and graduate student Brett McIntyre in pre-game ceremonies.

Last Time Out
The UMBC men's lacrosse team (5-2, 4-2 AE) was unable to overcome a late fourth-quarter push by the UAlbany Great Danes (6-3, 4-2 AE) on Sunday afternoon, as the host Great Danes prevailed, 14-9. UAlbany outscored UMBC, 7-1, in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game over the first 55 minutes.
Senior attackman Ryan Frawley (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) led UMBC with three goals, posting his first hat trick of the season.
UMBC fell from the Top 20 rankings, but are receiving votes in both polls.

52 - After missing three games due to illness, versatile senior Colin Kasner (Crofton, Md./DeMatha) aided UMBC's effort versus Vermont with three ground balls and a caused turnover. He became the fourth player in school history to record 50 caused turnovers and it only took him 23 games to reach that mark.
68:00 – Historically, UMBC is 3-1 when games go into a third overtime period. UMBC defeated Ohio State, 14-13 in 1992 and Maryland, 9-8, in 2008, but lost to Delaware, 11-10, in 2010.

2016- The last year that the Retrievers competed in back-to-back overtime games. They won at UMass Lowell, 9-8, then lost in the season finale versus UAlbany, 15-14.

- The Retrievers started a season at 3-0 for the first time since 2001.
- Before it was snapped in the 8-7 overtime loss at Binghamton, UMBC's seven-game winning streak was the second-longest in its NCAA Division I history (1981). The program's longest streak ever of 11 in a row occurred in 2008.
- The Retrievers are ranked 12th nationally in scoring defense, holding foes to 9.3 goals per contest. The 14 goals allowed versus UAlbany was a season high.
- Nick Dupuis was selected to the USILA Team of the Week on March 9. Dupuis scored a man-up goal with 1:09 to play in the fourth overtime period to end the longest game in school history on March 7. He completed his first career hat trick in the 13-12 victory over Stony Brook with that dramatic goal and led all scorers with three goals and two assists.
- Freshman defenseman Ethan Robinson (Randallstown, Md./McDonogh) earned America East Rookie of the Week honors for games ending March 20. Robinson collected four ground balls and caused three turnovers in his first extensive action of the year in the 13-10 win at Hartford.
- Senior goalkeeper Tommy Lingner earned America East Defensive Player of the Week honors after an 11-save effort versus the explosive Catamounts (April 5). Lingner is ninth in the nation with a goals against average of 8.81.
A Look at the River Hawks and the All-Time Series
- The River Hawks are 1-6 overall and 1-5 in America East competition. UML edged Hartford, 12-10 at home on March 13, but have dropped the last four contests. Most recently, UML fell, 16-5, versus Vermont on April 10. The Catamounts outscored the River Hawks, 10-2, in the second half. Freshman attackman Jake Davis scored a pair of goals his third multi-goal effort of the campaign.
- Senior midfielder Jake Lining leads the River Hawks with 10 goals and 7 assists. Davis and sophomore attackman Conor Foley has contributed eight goals each.
- UMBC leads the all-time series, 3-2, but the River Hawks have won the last two contests. In fact, on UMBC's Senior Day in 2019, UML scored 57 seconds into overtime and prevailed, 13-12, dropping the Retrievers to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in league play. UMBC would not lose another game until the NCAA Round of 16 setback at No. 1 Penn State.
- Ryan Frawley scored six of UMBC's 12 goals in that game and Trevor Patschorke added three. The River Hawks' Liam McDonough controlled 22 of 29 face-offs in the contest.
- Head Coach Ryan Moran, in his fifth campaign at UMBC, now has a career record of 26-28. He is just the third UMBC mentor in 51 years of USILA (1971) competition. He led the Retrievers to America East Tournament berths in two of his first three campaigns, including a league title in 2019. Moran is assisted by Joe Bucci and Craig Chick.
UMBC plays its final two regular season games on the road. The Retrievers face a rematch with the Stony Brook Seawolves on Long Island on Saturday, April 24 at noon.
