Six members of the UMBC men's lacrosse program were named to the College Sports Communicators At-Large Academic All-District Team it was announced today.

Jameson Coffman,
Ryan Demato,
Nick Gutierrez,
Dante Marinello, and
Alex Steers garnered the honor for their work on the field and in the classroom. Coffman, Demato, and Marinello will advance to the Academic All-America vote.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Batelka, a rising junior from Westminster, Md., appeared in 13 games, scoring two goals, causing eight turnovers, and picking up 15 ground balls as a long-stick midfielder. He currently holds a 4.0 GPA.
Coffman recently completed his sophomore season, earning all-conference honors after scoring seven goals, handing out three assists, causing seven turnovers, and picking up 17 ground balls as a short-stick midfielder. Coffman holds a 3.94 GPA, majoring in Economics.
A Financial Economics major, Demato has a 3.77 GPA and recently completed a standout junior season. Demato was named to the All-America East First Team after scoring 31 goals and dishing out nine assists.
Gutierrez recently graduated with a 3.88 GPA and a degree in Financial Economics. On the field, he started all 13 games, scoring five goals and adding three assists.
A two-time all-conference selection, Marinello graduated with a degree in Financial Economics, posting a 3.82 GPA. He captained the UMBC defense, causing 10 turnovers and picking up 16 ground balls, while contributing three goals and an assist on the other end.
Finally, Steers graduated with a 4.0 in Business Technology Administration. The face-off specialist from Westminster, Md., won 140 face-offs, led the team with 57 ground balls, and scored his first career goal on Senior Day.
