ALBANY, N.Y. - Fourth-seeded UMBC fell to top-seeded UAlbany 14-3 on Thursday evening in the America East Semifinal.
The Great Danes built a 7-0 halftime lead, jumping ahead of UMBC early, and kept the pressure on as they closed out the victory in the second half.
Connor Chick scored his 20th goal of the season to get the Retrievers on the board in the third quarter, before
Xander Maxwell and
Nick Gutierrez scored fourth-quarter goals for UMBC. Maxwell added his eighth assist of the season, making him the lone Retriever with multiple points in the game.
Alex Steers won 10-of-15 face-offs in the game, giving him 140 wins at the X for the season, a mark that ranks 15th all-time for UMBC.

Jameson Coffman,
Casey Pung, and
Dylan Sharpe all forced a turnover. Chick led the team with four ground balls in the game.
Connor McMahon made six saves, finishing the season with a career-high 127 saves.
