BALTIMORE-- UMBC cross country heads north for the 2021 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Friday afternoon. The Retrievers are coming off seventh place finishes at the America East Championships two weeks back for both the women and the men.

DAWG BYTES:
- Last time out, both the men and women's teams finished seventh at the America East Championships two weeks ago.
- Cameron Hindle (Ellicott City, Md./Long Reach) was the fastest Retriever taking 22nd place, finishing in a time of 25:04.02.
- Freshman Ayalew Fantaw (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) was the next Retriever to finish taking 39th in a time of 25:43.49.Â
- Taylor Baranoski (Parkville, Md./Eastern Tech) and Sam Brosh (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) finished just behind Fantaw in 41st (25:46.29) and 45th (25:57.63) respectively.
- James Dennison (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) was the last Retriever scorer finishing in 53rd place with a time of 26:11.23.Â
- Hindle, Brosh, and Dennison each recorded season best times in the 8k race on Friday.Â
LAST TIME AT REGIONALS:
- The Retriever women finished 24th out of 31 teams, while the men took 23rd out of 25 teams back in 2019.
- The 2020 race was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Chris Thoms led the way with a 103rd place finish. Thoms finished the 10k race with a time of 32:49. Trent Rose was the next to cross the finish line, taking 132nd in 33:27.1. Bradley Arbaugh (34:11.2), Sam Brosh (34:14.3) and Hugh O'Connor (34:17.8) also scored for the men.
