Lowell, Mass.— UMBC baseball suffered a 9-2 setback in their final America East game of the year to UMass Lowell on Sunday. The Retrievers mustered just five hits in the loss with Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) collecting two of the five.

UMBC falls to 21-29, 6-17 AE on the year while the River Hawks improve to 15-33, 10-11 AE.

The Retrievers fell behind early after the River Hawks put up four runs in their half of the first. UMBC responded the next half inning. Ryan Brown (Hagerstown, Md./St. James/Charleston Southern) led off the second getting hit by a pitch and would advance two pitches later on a Raven Beeman single. After both moved up on a wild pitch, coupled with a Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) walk loaded the bases. Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) drove in Beeman and Brown after reaching on a fielder's choice, and advanced to second on a throwing error cut the deficit to 4-2.

However, the River Hawks had an answer in their half of the second, scoring a run to extend their lead to 5-2. UMass Lowell would go on to score four more runs over the last seven innings, holding UMBC off the board in a 9-2 win.

Beeman had two of the five hits, both singles in the loss. The Retrievers did not have an extra base hit with Blaze O'Saben (Warrenton, Va.), AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Torres each having a hit in the contest. Goodwin drove in one run in the loss.

UMBC will return to action on Tuesday, May 14 in the finale road contest of the year at Georgetown. First pitch with the Hoyas is set for 7 p.m.
