Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC baseball used a four-run first inning to pull away from visiting Delaware on Tuesday night. Every Retriever who got an at bat recorded a hit in the game.

The Retrievers improve to 19-23 on the year while the Blue Hens fall to 25-23.

UMBC got on the board first, putting up four in the first. With the bases loaded, Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va.) scored on a wild pitch to get it started. Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) scored just pitches later a Dmitri Floyd (Dover, Del.) sacrifice fly to put UMBC in front 2-0. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) added to the party with a two-run home run to left, giving UMBC a 4-0 lead after one.

The Blue Hens responded with a three run second inning, cutting the Retriever lead to one. Mitchell Carroll (Oakton, Va.) led off the bottom of the frame with a single, moving up on a sacrifice bunt. He scored just four pitches later on an AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) double. Wright scored on the very next pitch on a sac fly to make it 6-3 UMBC.

UMBC added a run on Collin Stack (Jamestown, N.Y.) RBI single in the fifth before the Blue Hens made a comeback. Delaware put up a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to cut the lead to 8-6, but Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) came in and shut the door on his tenth save of the year.

Beeman led the way with a pair of RBI, with Stack, Floyd, Wright and Bright each driving in runs. Greg Albert (Medford, N.J.) picked up the win in 2.1 innings of relief, giving up just one run.

UMBC returns to action tomorrow, when Coppin State comes to Alumni Field at 3 p.m.
