Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Albany, N.Y.—UMBC baseball dropped game one 6-1, before taking a 5-1 victory in game two of the double-header. Senior Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) pitched a complete game for his third straight victory on Sunday. The split moved the Retrievers to 14-14, 5-3 AE on the year.

Game One:

Albany got ahead early, scoring a pair in the bottom half of the first off starter Jacob Christian (Nokesville, Va./Patriot).

Hunter Dolshun led off the inning with a double to left field, and would be advanced on a sac fly from Anthony Gatto (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) to set up Andrew Casali (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan). Casali singled to the shortstop, scoring Dolshun to make it 2-1 Albany.

However the Great Danes would score four runs in the sixth to seal the victory, handing the Retrievers their fourth straight loss.

The Retrievers would finally crack through with the bases loaded in the sixth. Tim Kelly (Hampton, Va./York/Virginia Tech) laced a one out triple to center, scoring three to give UMBC a 3-0 lead. Nick Naumann (Essex, Md./John Carroll/Chestnut Hill) followed up just two pitches later with a single to left to score Kelly.

Gatto added the insurance run in the seventh, doubling home Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) to make it 5-0.

The Danes would score in the seventh, but Conrad Wozniak got a double play to end the game with a 5-1 win.

Wozniak went a full seven innings, giving up just one run, striking out three. Both Gatto and Kelly finished with three hits each.
