Women's Tennis Streak Halted at Three With Setback at No. 52 TCU

Fort Worth, Texas – The UMBC women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to 52nd-ranked TCU at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on Monday morning.

TCU improved to 5-2 on the season, while the Retrievers saw their three-match winning streak halted and slipped to 3-6.

The Retrievers' emerging No. 1 doubles duo of senior Shannon Cleary (Little Bay, NSW, Australia) and sophomore Laura Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) waged a great battle with 24th-ranked Seda Arantenkin/Caroline Wegner and trailed only, 5-4, when the match was halted. The Horned Frogs captured the doubles point with identical 6-2 decisions at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions.

TCU took all six singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory. Ambrozic won a team-high five games in a 6-2, 6-3 defeat to Aleksandra Zenovka at the No. 5 position.

UMBC faces UT-Arlington on in an afternoon match on Thursday.
