BALTIMORE – The UMBC women's tennis teams swept a pair of matches from MEAC foes on Saturday, March 8, besting Morgan State, 6-1, and UMES, 5-0, at the UMBC Tennis Complex. The Retrievers have now won three consecutive matches and stand at 5-4 on the season.

Against the Bears, UMBC won the doubles point as the No. 3 duo of senior Josefin Stange-Jonsson (Vasteras, Sweden) and freshman Mariami Dolashvili (Alushta, Ukraine) blanked Arina Ailueva/Tiffany Hughes, 8-0, and the No. 1 tandem of freshman Olga Baikulova (Vladikavlcaz, Russia) and sophomore Isabel Aldunate (Bowie,Md.) outlasted Margarita Belyakova/Ekaterina Iakoleva, 8-3.

UMBC put the match away with victories at the top three singles positions. At No. 3, Dolashvili defeated Iakoleva, 6-1, 6-3 and senior No. 2 Kim Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) cruised past Alilueva, 6-2, 6-0.
