Biography

2013: Suffered a mid-year injury and did not compete in spring matches.

2012: Selected to the America East Tennis All-Academic squad… Earned America East First Team accolades in doubles play, teaming with senior Carmen Jackman to win 22 of 32 matches at the No. 1 position… The tandem won matches in both the semifinal and title matches at the America East Championships… Also earned second team all-conference honors in singles, where she held down the No. 1 position for much of the season… Led the team with 42 total victories in 2011-12 and is now 74-39 (65.5 winning pct.).

2010-11: Earned 2011 America East Conference Rookie of the Year honors… First tennis player in Retriever history to receive that distinction … Posted 11-6 in singles play to accompany a 11-4 doubles record.

Background: Attempting a double major in physics and economics...Captured the Hessen junior team championship… Defeated a WTA player ranked in the top 750 earlier in 2010… Reached the semifinal round in German Championships in 2006… Considering a major in physics… Has an older brother, Rafael, who is 21… Daughter of Francisca and Heino Berghaus… Born Aug. 18, 1992.
