Women's Cross Country

Cologer and the Retrievers Finish in 11th at Princeton Invitational

Princeton, N.J.-- The UMBC women's cross country team turned in an 11th place finish at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Sophia Cologer (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the top finisher, turning in a 12th place finish.

Cologer crossed the tape with a time of 22:03 in the 5k race. The next Retriever across the finish line was junior Katie Govatos (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis/Florida Southern). Govatos finished with a time of 22:33 in 41st place.

Nicole Dawson (Jessup, Md./Hammond), Julie Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre Dame), and Angelina Oputa(Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) rounded out the scorers for the Retrievers. Dawson finished in 78th with a time of 23:01, while Gessler finished in 92nd in 23:10. Oputa rounded out the scoring with a 142nd place finish in a time of 23:48.

The Retrievers are back in action at the 2014 America East Championships on November 1. UMBC will head to Orono, Maine to try and capture the America East crown.
