Women's Cross Country

Tepper Leads Women's Cross Country at Paul Short Invitational on Friday Morning

Lehigh, Pa. – The UMBC women's cross country team participated in the 2025 Paul Short Run, held at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course on Friday morning.

The Retrievers finished 35th out of 40 teams in the 6K race. Junior Lexi Tepper led the team, crossing the finish line in 21:17.9, which placed her 102nd overall. Tepper made a significant move, advancing 88 spots after being positioned 190th at the one-mile mark. Senior Lily Strelecki also performed well, finishing in the top 200 with a time of 21:53.4, earning her 197th place.

Freshmen Maddie Wassin and Lilly Norcross also made strong contributions, finishing with times of 22:12.3 and 22:28.8, respectively.

Junior Erin Grime was UMBC's fifth finisher, clocking in at 22:37.1, followed closely by classmate Katelyn Deal with a time of 22:42.4.

Sophomores Katie Schwaner and Lydia Nelson completed the team's finishers, finishing in 22:43.2 and 23:47.4, respectively.

The Retrievers will next compete at the ECAC Championships on Friday, October 17, at the historic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
