NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tulane (16-7) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take the series two games to one over UMBC (6-12) with a 13-2 win on Sunday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Green Wave took the series opener on Friday night, 8-1, before UMBC forced Sunday's rubber game with a 3-2 win on Saturday afternoon.

 On Sunday, the hosts scored 11 unanswered runs after the Retrievers had taken the lead in the bottom of the second on a run by freshman Ian Glassman (Basking Ridge, N.J./Rutgers Prep).

Senior Steve Miller (Newark, Del./Dickinson) was charged with the loss for UMBC after yielding five runs on five hits in five innings of work.  Miller (0-3) struck out four batters while issuing three walks.

Kyle McKenzie (1-0) earned the win for Tulane throwing seven innings giving up only one run while scattering seven hits.

Unlike the first two games, UMBC struck first, plating a run in the top of the second when Glassman scored from on a strikeout, throw out double play.  The freshman, whose single game the Retrievers the win on Saturday, went 2-for-4 on Sunday.

Miller held the Green Wave under wraps early, sending 10 straight batters down in order between the second and fourth innings before Andrew Garner broke up the streak with a leadoff single in the fifth.  Garner came around to tie the score on a sacrifice fly to right of the bat of Bowen Woodson.

In the top of the sixth, sophomore Rob McCabe (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) was able to get the third, but could not get in as the score remained tied at one. 

In the bottom half, Tulane made the most of the situation, plating four runs to take the lead, 5-1. The Green Wave followed with six more runs in the bottom of the seventh, pushing the lead to ten, 11-1.

UMBC was able to get one run back in the top of the eighth with an RBI single by senior Brian Klukowicz to cut the lead to nine, 11-2.  Tulane answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning however, to provide the final score.

The Retrievers now return to Maryland to play back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Tuesday, UMBC will travel to take on in-state rival Mount St. Mary's before returning home to host George Washington on Wednesday at the Baseball Factory Field.   

DAWG BITES

-           With his single in the eighth, Klukowicz extended his team-best hitting streak to eight games.  The senior is now batting .400 (14-for-35) over the course of those eight games.

-          UMBC stole two bases on Sunday to bring its season total to 21, matching the squad's season total from the 2011 season.

-          The Retrievers were held without an extra base hit for the second time in the series.
