PRINCETON, N.J. – The UMBC women's basketball team shot 10 percent from the floor (2-of-20) and were held to eight first half points en route to a 93-46 loss to Princeton in Sunday afternoon's non-conference matchup at Jadwin Gym.
The Retrievers (3-5) continued their offensive struggles, connecting on two field goals in the first 20 minutes of action and allowed Princeton (5-2) to a 51-8 advantage at the break. The Tigers had six different players drain a three-point field goal in the opening period and had 11 players score in the game, including five with double-digit points.
Princeton starting center Megan Bowen notched the game's only double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while senior forward Kate Miller finished with a team-best 13 points.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, led by senior guard Niveen Rasheed's six points. Princeton knocked down seven of its first 10 shots, while the Retrievers missed their first five shots and turned the ball over three times in the opening 4:33.
UMBC allowed the Tigers a 22-point cushion before scoring its first point, a free throw from sophomore guard Lauren Chase (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist) at the 10:17 mark. The Retrievers would miss their first 12 shots from the field before senior guard Brittany Crowell(Brandywine, Md./Gwynn Park/James Madison) hit a jumper with 7:37 to go in the half.
The Tigers shot 51.4 percent from the floor (19-for-37) and made half of their threes (10-for-20). The black and gold turned the ball over 12 times in the first half leading to 22 points. The Retrievers were also outrebounded 30-8.
Princeton cooled down in the second half, shooting 39.5 percent (15-for-38), including 2-for-13 from three, while the Retrievers improved, hitting 11 of their 26 shots and connecting on five treys – four coming from Crowell. UMBC were outscored 42-38 in the second half.
Crowell scored a game-high 15 points – 13 coming in the second half – on 4-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc, to go along with four rebounds and five steals. Senior guard Raven Harris (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne/American) also finished in double-digit points with 10 points.
The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 5 when they travel to VCU. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

-Princeton takes control of the all-time series 2-1 and has won two-straight against the Retrievers.
-The Retrievers fall to 0-3 on the road this season.
-UMBC used its fourth different starting lineup of the season, with freshman guard Kayla Seymour earning her first career start. The Retrievers started Brittany Crowell, Lauren Chase, Kayla Seymour, Raven Harris and Dana Lewis.
-The Tigers 22-0 run in start the game was the most consecutive points scored against the Retrievers this season.
-UMBC's eight points in the opening half was the lowest point total in Retriever history. The previous low was 10 points against James Madison on Dec. 3, 1977.
-The Retrievers allowed 90 points in a game for the first time since Feb. 21, 2009 when Albany defeated UMBC 92-80.
-UMBC shot under 30 percent for the second time this season, finishing the game shooting at a .283 clip.
-The Retrievers have allowed at least 10 threes in each of the last three games, including a season-high 12 today.
