BALTIMORE - The UMBC baseball team scored 11 runs in the first inning as the Retrievers won their first game of the young season, 15-2, over Yale Sunday afternoon.

Senior Shawn Retz (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech/Catonsville C.C.) hit his first home run of the season, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI, while freshman Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) went 3-for-5 with three RBI as the Retrievers were very efficient at the plate, scoring 15 runs on 15 hits.

Freshman Steve Miller (Newark, Del./Dickinson) pitched four innings for his first collegiate save.

Retriever freshman Curtis Schnickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) received his first collegiate start at shortstop, earning a RBI on a bases loaded walk in the first.
