UMBC, Loyola Announce Inaugural Blake Elliott Cup

BALTIMORE - The UMBC and Loyola (Md.) men's soccer programs collectively announce the creation of the Blake Elliott Cup, a yearly contest set to honor the daughter of Rob and Belinda Elliott. Rob is a former member of both men's soccer programs. The game will be played on Sunday, August 23, at 6 p.m. at Retriever Soccer Park.

The Elliott family tragically lost their daughter, Blake, in a car accident in the fall of 2025. With ties to both programs, the family, alongside head coaches Anthony Adams (UMBC) and Steve Nichols (Loyola), came up with a plan to continue honoring their daughter's legacy through the sport she loved.

"Blake brought a light into this world that touched everyone she met. Her beautiful spirit was filled with kindness and compassion. She had an infectious smile, and her acceptance of others left a lasting impact on so many lives. While her loss is immeasurable, her light will always guide us as a family. We are incredibly grateful to the soccer programs and community members who have come together to honor Blake's memory. Soccer was such a meaningful part of her life, and it means so much to our family to see her legacy continue through the sport she loved." Rob, Belinda, Brooke and Brayden Elliott

(Rob) Elliott was a standout competitor for both programs, playing three seasons at Loyola from 1989-1991. Elliott remains in the top 25 in Loyola history for career points, goals, and assists, and is tied for fourth with 28 assists despite playing just three seasons. Elliott completed his playing career at UMBC in 1993, leading the Retrievers to a 15-3-1 record and remaining the single-season record holder with 16 assists during that season. Elliott was a Second Team All-Big South selection with the Retrievers.

"With UMBC and Loyola playing again this season, we thought there was an opportunity to support a great cause.  We received the blessing of the Elliott family and are now looking forward to a great night of Baltimore soccer while supporting the memory of an amazing young lady.  I had the privilege of being Rob's teammate at UMBC. He was impactful for UMBC Soccer, and as a program, we are thankful and humbled to continue to celebrate the memory of Blake Elliott."
Anthony Adams, UMBC Head Coach

"This is a great day for Baltimore soccer. To renew one of the best rivalries in college soccer is incredible for our soccer community, but to make it even more special is to honor the loving memory of Blake Elliott, a beautiful young lady who left us way too early. She was an incredibly caring and loving person who was not only a talented soccer player but even a better person. Her father was one of the most talented youth soccer players I have ever seen in my lifetime who was incredibly successful at both Loyola and UMBC. It will be a great night for our Baltimore soccer community. Loyola Men's Soccer is very honored to be part of such a special night."
Steve Nichols, Loyola Head Coach

BLAKE ELLIOTT 3 FOUNDATION (BE3)

The proceeds from this event will benefit the Blake Elliott 3 Foundation, established in love and remembrance to honor Blake's life by supporting youth and families, encouraging kindness and acceptance, providing opportunities in youth athletics, and promoting the care and safety of animals.

"The BE3 Foundation was created to honor and remember Blake's beautiful legacy by continuing the light and love she shared with everyone."
