BOSTON -- UMBC redshirt freshman first baseman Dylan Melton was named the America East Rookie of the Week, the Conference announced on Monday. 

Melton was the leadoff hitter in all three games of the sweep of NJIT, and was 8-13 at the plate with five RBI, four runs scored, two doubles a walk and no strikeouts. Also, had the eventual game winning RBI single in game 3 as UMBC rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win 7-4 and clinch the No.2 seed. In the field, he was 17-17 with 16 putouts.

The Retrievers will play the highest remaining seed on Thurday at 3 p.m. in Binghamton.
