The UMBC Baseball team will make the trip to Philadelphia on Tuesday for its second ever meeting with La Salle. First pitch on ESPN+ is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The two teams only met previously one time, as La Salle defeated the visiting Retrievers, 9-5, on April 30, 2019. The Explorers discontinued the program after the 2021 season, but revived it for 2026.
Last time out, UMBC (20-18, 8-7 AE)Â dropped the final game of the series to Maine, 11-1, in eight innings on Sunday afternoon.
Anthony Mascuilli had the lone run for the Retrievers after he hit a homerun to the scoreboard in right field in the fifth inning. He picked up another hit for UMBC in the seventh.
Danny Orr and Ehi Okojie also had a hit for UMBC. Okojie picked up his third stolen base of the season.Â
Sergio Droz came into pitch in the first inning and threw three innings with three strikeouts. Droz gave up no earned runs.
