Gutshall Punches Ticket to NCAA's and Stennett Takes Silver on Second Day of America East Championships

Lexington, Va. -- Ashley Gutshall punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships in 50 Meter and Ember Stennett earned the fifth medal of her illustrious career as the UMBC Women's Swimming & Diving team had a succesful second day at the America East Championships.

Gutshall set a UMBC/America East/Meet record with a time of 22.25 in winning gold in the 50, with Erma Duratovic taking bronze in 23.14. The two would then team up with Claire Oettinger and Evie Grim to earn bronze in the 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:32.82. Earlier, Alice Marini placed second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:02.46 to earn silver.

After earning bronze in the 1M yesterday, Ember Stennett scored 260.20 to pick up silver in the 3M to go with the two golds and a silver she earned in her first two America East Championships. Alicia Buteau placed fourth with a score of 219.10.

The Retrievers are tied for third with 228 points heading into the third day of competition.
